This limited-edition Sonor AQ2 150th Shell Set celebrates 150 years of the Sonor brand, with only 500 kits available worldwide. It combines refined looks, premium materials, and a versatile shell configuration aimed at demanding drummers seeking a high-performance, stage-ready instrument.
The 6-ply hybrid shell construction (7-ply for the kick) blends North American and Chinese maple, optimized for tone and response. The shells are finished in a high-gloss Ebony Veneer, with matching outer hoops on the bass drum, which is a rare detail that reinforces the visual identity of this anniversary series.
The setup includes a 22"x17.5" bass drum, two rack toms (10"x7" and 12"x8"), two floor toms (14"x13" and 16"x15"), and a 14"x6" snare. All toms use Sonor’s SMART Mount system, which minimizes shell contact and maximizes resonance. The kit also includes a DTH 4000 double tom holder.
Sonically, the AQ2 150th delivers a full, articulate voice: round, powerful lows, well-defined mids, and crisp highs. It responds well to different tunings and styles, from modern pop and funk to jazz, fusion or rock.
