For many enthusiasts, C.F. Martin & Co. has been creating the most beautiful guitars in the world for over 180 years. The company has innovated by using manufacturing techniques and features that have become standards, including the X-bracing, the fourteenth fret body/ neck joint and the Dreadnought format. Faithful to the founder's approach, the company continues to employ artisanal processes and a highly skilled workforce. Today, more contemporary designs and approach allow Martin to maintain its reputation as the world leader in professional acoustic guitar making, without sacrificing its core models and legendary quality.
The SC-10E Modern is part of Martin’s recent push toward more ergonomic acoustic designs. The SC body with deep cutaway and 13th-fret neck joint allows unusually easy upper-fret access for an acoustic guitar. Reaching the highest frets feels much closer to playing an electric, with no large heel getting in the way.
The construction combines a solid spruce top with sapele back and sides. This pairing delivers a versatile balance: clear attack and projection from the spruce, warm mids and controlled low end from the sapele. The body remains relatively compact but still projects well, with a focused tone suited for both strumming and melodic playing.
The neck features Martin’s Low Profile Velocity shape with High Performance Taper. It’s a slim, fast neck designed for modern players. Movement across the fingerboard feels fluid, and the Sure Align neck joint keeps the playing experience consistent all the way up the neck.
Electronics on this Martin RD SC-10E Modern are handled by the Martin E1 system, which allows for seamlessly moving from home practice to stage work. The preamp is intentionally straightforward, with volume, tone, phase switch and built-in tuner. Plugged in, the signal stays natural and easy to control through a PA or acoustic amplifier.
