The Lowden O50 CMA/AD represents the pinnacle of the 50 Series, a flagship line that showcases George Lowden’s uncompromising craftsmanship and finest tonewoods. Built with Master Grade Ancient Cuban Mahogany for the back and sides, and a Master Grade Adirondack spruce top, this guitar offers explosive dynamic response, powerful projection, and a harmonic richness worthy of a true heirloom instrument. Simply put, it is one of the finest creations to come out of George’s workshop.
The Cuban mahogany, prized for its density and acoustic resonance, delivers deep, rounded lows and warm, velvety mids. The Adirondack spruce top, known for its stiffness and vibrant character, adds brilliance in the highs and a precise, articulate attack. The ebony fingerboard, paired with a bone nut and rosewood bridge, provides exceptional sustain and flawless intonation. The five-piece neck (mahogany and rosewood), carved in Lowden’s GL Standard profile, offers both ergonomic comfort and outstanding stability for extended playing.
Often referred to as Lowden’s "Custom Shop," the 50 Series features exclusive visual and functional appointments: an abalone and Tasmanian Blackwood rosette, ebony bindings, and a through-bridge design for optimal vibration transfer. It is equally suited to delicate fingerpicking and vigorous strumming. Its lack of onboard electronics reflects its purist acoustic intent, making it perfect for studio recording or intimate live performances.
