This Ibanez semi-hollow is an excellent guitar for blues and jazz, with enough response to handle some rock as well. The finish is clean, the build is solid, and the sound delivers an open response, a smooth attack and enough sustain to stay clear in a band mix.
The linden body and set nyatoh/maple neck make for a comfortable, balanced instrument with good unplugged resonance. The Macassar ebony fingerboard, 12" radius and 24 medium frets allow for fluid playing, with a more modern feel than its very classic appearance might suggest.
The two Super 80 humbuckers cover warm cleans, blues crunch, soul, electric jazz and clean pop/rock textures. This is not a guitar that will respond well to extreme gain or heavy layers of effects, but that is not what it is made for. It becomes much more interesting when you let the notes breathe, with extended chords and subtle playing dynamics.
The Gibraltar Performer bridge, Quik Change Classic tailpiece and gold hardware complete a reliable, elegant setup without unnecessary excess. This is a solid workhorse for practice or stage use, aimed at players looking for a serious semi-hollow for rehearsal, live work or home studio use, without emptying their wallet.
