A flagship of Fender’s craftsmanship, the Custom Shop range represents the brand’s highest standards, from wood selection to hand-wound pickups, nitro finishes to hardware detailing. The result is highly reliable instruments with unmistakable tone and exceptional playability.
Plug in and brace yourself. This Fender Custom Shop '59 JRN Relic Telecaster in Aged White Blonde isn’t here to blend in. It’s a riff machine straight out of 1959, with just the right amount of wear to feel like it’s lived a few decades in the back room of a smoke-filled Midwest bar. The relic finish is perfectly balanced, enough to tell a story without overdoing it.
The ash body rings out with every chord like it’s been resonating for decades. The maple neck with a Large C profile feels like an old-school bat, chunky but super comfortable. Paired with the 9.5" radius maple fingerboard and 21 narrow tall frets, the feel is all about control: precise bends, clean vibrato, sharp attack. This thing plays like it knows where you're going.
Tone-wise, it delivers. The two Custom Shop Texas Special pickups bring character in spades. The bridge pickup hits with that sharp, cutting Tele twang and a hint of grit that raises eyebrows fast. The neck pickup is round and warm, perfect for bluesy leads or full-bodied chords. The control layout is simple and effective: three-way selector, volume and tone. All you need, nothing more.
We tested it through Fender amps like the Bassman and Deluxe, a Friedman Dirty Shirley, and a 69Amps Empire. Every time it gave us a sound that was dense, punchy and perfectly balanced, with just enough bite to cut through the mix without getting harsh. This is a guitar built to play loud, play true, and play for years.
