A flagship of Fender's production, Custom Shop instruments are guitars and basses that meet the highest standards of quality, from wood selection to pickup winding, as well as finishes and hardware manufacturing. The result is highly reliable instruments with an unmistakable sound, offering great playability.
The Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster '62 JRN/CC Relic 3-Tone Sunburst won us over with its authentic feel and its faithful sound to the classics. The lightweight and responsive alder body resonates with the warmth typical of vintage Stratocasters, and the Relic 3-Tone Sunburst finish gives it the right amount of wear while retaining its inherent class.
The maple neck with its 60 Oval C profile invites you to play with intention. The shape, well-defined yet not too thick, fits naturally in the hand, enabling smooth play, particularly enjoyable for both solos and open chords. The feel is smooth and comfortable, and the fingerboard provides a good balance between ease of bends and precision for tight chords. The 21 narrow tall frets also offer a sense of freedom, especially useful for fast or technical playing where every note must be perfectly controlled.
The Handwound 60/63 Strat Single Coil pickups deliver a clear and precise sound, with that characteristic bite of '60s Stratocasters. The middle pickup, with Reverse Winding Reverse Polarity, adds a touch of sharpness while minimizing interference. This results in a more coherent sound with no unwanted noise, allowing you to fully focus on the musicality. We were particularly impressed by its precision when using high-gain amps like a Friedman or a Mesa Boogie profile on Neural DSP. In a Tweed amp, this guitar won’t surprise anyone, but it will continue to impress: it’s a classic Fender, offering a pure playing experience with no gimmicks.
