As a flagship of Fender's production, the instruments from the Custom Shop range are guitars and basses that meet the highest quality standards, from wood selection to pickup winding, including varnish and hardware manufacturing. The result is highly reliable instruments with an inimitable sound, offering exceptional playing comfort.
Masterbuilt instruments represent the very top of Fender’s Custom Shop production. Each guitar is crafted by a single builder, in this case Todd Krause, one of the most respected luthiers in the Fender Custom Shop. This ’58 Jazzmaster captures the spirit of the earliest models while balancing vintage authenticity with modern playability.
The two-piece alder body wears an Aged 3-Tone Sunburst Journeyman Relic finish. The ageing is tasteful and controlled: lightly checked nitro, subtle wear and aged hardware. It looks like a well-loved instrument that has seen years of stage time without losing its elegance.
The quartersawn maple neck features a comfortable ’62 Jazzmaster profile, paired with a AAA rosewood fingerboard with a vintage 7.25" radius and 21 narrow tall 6105 frets. This combination preserves the classic Fender feel while offering a little extra precision and control under the fingers.
The Jazzmaster Flat Magnet Relic pickups deliver the unmistakable character of the model: wide lows, open mids and clear highs without harshness. The response is extremely dynamic, moving naturally from deep cleans to gritty, textured overdrive.
The vintage-style Jazzmaster bridge and floating tremolo complete the instrument. The system offers the smooth feel and subtle elasticity that define offset guitars, with a vibrato that stays musical and expressive. A Jazzmaster that perfectly reflects the Custom Shop philosophy: character, balance and personality.
