The T-Rex RoomMate Deluxe is a hybrid tube-driven reverb, designed to cover everything from vintage tones to more modern textures, and it delivers convincingly in both areas. The controls are well thought out, with direct access to essential parameters and an “Optional” function that intelligently adapts behavior depending on the selected mode.
At the core is a 12AX7 tube, adding density and a more organic response than most digital reverbs. The signal stays alive, with a subtle natural compression and a texture that avoids any sense of harshness or clinical coldness, even with longer or more saturated settings.
The eight modes cover a wide range of classic reverb types. The spring and plate settings are highly convincing, with a defined attack and dynamic response. The room and hall modes offer a gradual sense of space without the excessive wash that often affects digital pedals, while the Shimmer mode introduces a more modern dimension without becoming overwhelming. We strongly recommend using it in stereo, especially in studio contexts, where the pedal really opens up: the image is wide, stable, easy to place in a mix, and even inspires new playing approaches, especially when used with an expression pedal.
