Designed as a true “take-anywhere” amp, this head focuses on simplicity and musicality. The Belgian boutique workshop’s craftsmanship is impeccable: a streamlined circuit, selected components, and an aesthetic inspired by classic small American amps. The intention is clear: deliver a solid, warm clean tone with surprising volume for 20 watts, and provide a healthy, reliable platform for a pedalboard.
In practice, the Hurricane 20 behaves like a much more powerful amp. The clean tone is wide and deep, with the three-dimensional quality that well-driven 6V6s tend to produce. The grain remains stable even as the master goes up, and the analogue reverb adds just the right amount of depth. The 3-position bright switch adapts the amp to the guitar or cabinet in use without complicating the workflow. Gain, master, tone: three controls, and the sweet spot appears quickly.
Pushed in volume or fed by an overdrive, the amp moves into an organic, smooth saturation reminiscent of small American combos when they begin to compress. Still, its natural territory is clean, and as a pedal platform it excels. Overdrives, fuzzes, delays, boosters: everything passes through with respect, the amp adding only its natural warmth and gentle compression. Its compact format and cathode-biased 6V6s (no-adjustment tube changes) make it both practical and musical; placed on any 1×12 or 2×12 cabinet, it becomes immediately usable and convincing from home-studio work to a reasonable stage.
