The Precious Tones Zircon 80W Head delivers real dynamic range, a wide clean voice, and overdrive that does not collapse when the right hand digs in. Swiss-made, handwired, boutique-built: this is not a generic production head. It is a Swiss exclusive for Servette-Music, and that's important too. Its tonal base sits clearly in the great American amp tradition, somewhere between a muscular Fender response and Dumble-inspired control, with a very direct feel under the fingers. The KT88 power section gives the Zircon a broader, firmer foundation, without making it stiff. Cleans stay full and articulate, with enough body to handle a Strat, a Tele or humbuckers without sounding thin.
The gain/master setup gives precise control over saturation. You can keep the amp solid at reasonable volume, push the preamp harder, or open up the response depending on the guitar and cabinet. The Rough control goes deeper: by bypassing or progressively reintroducing part of the tone stack, it lets more signal hit the amp, adding drive, presence and urgency. This is a real feel control, not a decorative switch.
On the rear panel, the Zircon gives players serious tools to shape the amp around the room, the cabinet and the guitar. Power reduction, pentode or hi-fi/ultra-linear operation, 20% or 40% positions, digital bias, three-position negative feedback and 2, 4 and 8 ohm impedance selection all affect the playing response. Hi-fi mode keeps the tone cleaner, tighter and more linear. Pentode mode brings it back toward a warmer, more traditional response with earlier saturation. The negative feedback switch can thicken or sharpen the sound depending on the speaker load and playing volume.
The Diamond selector shapes the amp’s input gain in three stages. Position one stays closer to a clear blackface-style response. Position two adds more density and midrange mass. Position three pushes into a bigger, more inflated feel, close to the Texas-style modded amp vocabulary. With the right guitar and a few well-chosen pedals, the Zircon covers wide clean tones, sharp crunch and thick blues-rock lead sounds without losing pick attack.
