Founded in 1985 in Stevensville, Maryland, USA, PRS Guitars (named after its founder, luthier Paul Reed Smith), immediately took up the challenge of designing and producing guitars that meet the challenge of offering instruments with uncompromising sound versatility, exceptional playing comfort, and the highest level of beauty and craftsmanship. With models like the McCarty and the Custom 24, PRS Guitars has made a sensational debut in the world of guitar, dominating today by marrying the qualities of the Stratocaster (vibrato, crystal clear sound, soft bass, comfort of the game) and the Les Paul (creamy crunch, mediums affirmed, endless sustain and luxurious finishes), adding a character of its own.
The SE Custom 24 brings the foundations of PRS’s high-end models into an accessible and well-balanced format. The mahogany body paired with a carved maple top provides a strong balance between warmth, attack and projection. The characteristic PRS body contouring ensures natural resonance and immediate ergonomics, whether seated or standing.
The maple neck with Wide Thin profile offers a fast, comfortable feel without being extreme. The 25" scale length sits between Fender and Gibson standards, delivering comfortable string tension and solid precision for both chord work and bends. With 24 frets and a rosewood fingerboard featuring a 10" radius, access to the upper register is smooth and consistent across the entire neck.
The PRS 85/15 “S” humbuckers cover a wide tonal range. In full humbucking mode, they deliver clear, defined and well-balanced tones that move easily from modern clean sounds to assertive drive without collapsing. The push/pull tone control splits the pickups for finer, airier textures closer to single-coil voices. The PRS vibrato completes the package with a stable, musical response. A versatile, dependable guitar designed to serve as a main instrument, from home practice to the stage.
