The Antoine Courtois 550BH "Legend" bass trombone features a  14.28mm (0.563’’) bore, a 241mm (9 ½’’) interchangeable bell and a brass hand-slide to accommodate an interchangeable lead-pipe. Both F and Gb wraps are open type with two René Hagmann® "Free-Flow" progressive bore rotors. Designed for large symphony orchestras but also for brass-bands, this instrument delivers a lavish heavy sound, very homgeneous in all registers.

The Legend 550BH is supplied with René Hagmann® "Free-Flow" valves. Antoine Courtois has, by the way, been the first maker to supply their trombones with our rotors. We would like to thank them to have pioneer the way in 1992, and for their sustained business ever since! The company has gathered a remarkable experience in this field and with this assistance of renowned artists, the "Legend" line has become inescapable in the very private club of superlative trombones.

The maker has selected our progressive bore "Free-Flow" valves concept to promote a very homogenous emission, well centered through all registers. The one-piece 550 BH 241mm (9 ½’’) yellow brass bell is hand-hammered and interchangeable. The brass slide features an ergonomic hand-grip, nickel-silver inner sleeves to host the chrome-plated inner slide completed with an interchangeable lead-pipe. Modularity is therefore the keyword to the Courtois "Legend" concept with four removable different bells available - 241mm (9 1/2") or 265mm (10 1/2") diameters in yellow or gold-brass material - and two hand-slide lead-pipes.

Used in major symphonic and philharmonic orchestras, this instrument has gathered worldwide recognition.
