George Lowden L-25 acoustic guitar, red cedar top, rosewood back and sides, five-segment neck (cedro and rosewood), ebony fingerboard, ziricote bridge with double nut for optimized intonation (a concept since adopted by Takamine and other manufacturers), with Hiscox case.
Although this guitar is forty-five years old, its condition is exceptional: apart from a small mark on the top, it's as new, with the patina of nitro-cellulose varnish as a bonus.
Made entirely by the hands of the talented George Lowden in February 1979 (No. 0107, the seventh guitar to leave his workshop in Bangor, Northern Ireland), this eponymous model has both added historical value and superb time-modulated acoustics. Servette-Music's order in 1979 for four models of this newcomer to the world of metal-string acoustic guitars (S-10, S-22, L-25 and L-32) has resulted in what connoisseurs know only too well: the store has become the exclusive distributor of the brand, enthusiastic about its creator's innovative concept, to the delight of “finger stylists”, and continues this journey: Lowden's projection and dynamics, combined with a sound that's both deep and crystalline, are unrivalled to this day.
