Advences is the result of active collaboration between passionate French saxophone luthiers and an experienced small-scale manufacturing structure in Taiwan. This line of instruments, highly original, combines several very interesting historical influences: bore and ergonomics reminiscent of the Selmer Mark VI, very ergonomic and stable keywork, with double arms on several low keys, and the use of special alloys for the body: phosphor bronze, German silver, pink brass. These numerous combinations open the door to other types of sounds, allowing each musician to find the instrument that best suits them.

The Advences Vintage Baritone Saxophone is the latest addition to the Advences brand. The goal was to free the saxophone from the usual finishing constraints. It undergoes no polishing, burnishing, or varnishing. The maximum amount of material has been left, especially at the chimney level. The raw bronze alloy is immersed in special baths that cause rapid and stable oxidation (passivation). The saxophone is thus naturally protected. Homogeneity, projection, and power are all there. Acoustically, the result is impressive, with a sound of great density, openness, and flexibility, an absolutely unique sensation in this price range.

The craftsmanship is very meticulous, and the handling is very pleasant. The emission is excellent, with a wide dynamic range possible, and a timbre already present at low power. Experience confirms very high reliability and no intonation problems regardless of the type of mouthpiece, classical, jazz, or contemporary music. The body is detachable for maintenance, and the bell is adorned with a beautiful vintage engraving. The price-quality ratio is exceptional, and although it is located within intermediate instrument budgets, it should be considered of superior quality.
