De Leeuw Guitars, located in Pont-Sainte-Maxence, France, is a lutherie workshop founded by Quentin De Leeuw and David Schwarz, specializing in neck-through electric guitars. Blending tradition and modernity, the workshop manufactures custom instruments, emphasizing comfort, sustain, and rich sound. Each guitar is designed with meticulous attention to detail, from the chosen woods to the pickups. In recognition of its excellence, De Leeuw Guitars won the People's Choice Award at the Salon de La Belle Guitare in Montrouge in 2022 and was awarded the Grand Prix de l'Espoir du Made in France 2023. Each instrument is crafted individually, with careful attention to every detail, from the wood selection to the pickup choice, ensuring a unique and expressive instrument.

The Jazzmaster Custom Ash, resulting from our collaboration with De Leeuw, is characterized by its sophisticated aesthetics and superior playing comfort. Its 7-ply neck of maple and tempered ziricote, shaped to our medium C De Leeuw Guitars specifications, fits comfortably in the hand, making it very comfortable for playing chords during long sessions. The structure is balanced with a swamp ash body, ensuring optimal comfort, whether sitting or standing.

When plugged in, this Jazzmaster stands out with its varied tonal palette and sound depth. On our explicit request, it is equipped with Lollar Jazzmaster pickups and a vintage 58 Jazzmaster-type electronics, producing an authentic, warm, and precise sound. The Indian rosewood fingerboard with 21 Jescar Vintage frets was chosen to achieve a vintage touch, and it offers smooth playability and precise response along the entire neck. The combination of selected woods, especially a swamp ash top with a ziricote sub-top, contributes to this extended sound range by offering thick lows, fairly sharp mids, and crystal-clear highs.

Playing this guitar has amazed us all. Every component, from the M1 Mastery Bridge vibrato to the Master Bridge, including the locking Hipshot tuners, has been meticulously chosen to provide a playing experience that excites creativity. Whether for snappy chords, smooth licks, or powerful riffs, it responds with precision and dynamics that invite exploration on the paths it opens. This Jazzmaster Custom Ash is a very high-end instrument, not only in its aesthetics but also in its playability and sound quality.
