The flagship of Fender's production, instruments from the Custom Shop range are guitars and basses that meet the highest quality standards, be it in the wood selection, the pickups winding, the finishes or the overall build quality. This results in highly reliable instruments with inimitable sound, providing great playability.

This Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster 56 is a superb guitar that pays homage to some of the models that came out of the Californian workshops of the time, whose bodies were made of ash. This wood offers particularly good articulation and presence, with a good balance between brilliance and warmth.

Other than that, this is a Strat with no surprises in terms of specs. The neck has a V-shaped profile, and the maple fingerboard, a comfortable 9.5" radius for both seated and standing playing, features 21 narrow tall frets that won't really forgive inaccurate playing, but allow a very soft touch. The Vintage Synchronized vibrato and Vintage tuners will be reliable - if we're talking about truly vintage models - for a lifetime.

Handwound 56 Strat pickups deliver the typical sound of the era: bright and crystal-clear, but with a rather low output level. The result is a warm, vintage-grained sound palette, with a frequency balance that favors the midrange, and treble that's a little on the low side. As it's still a Strat, harmonics are very rich and presence is enormous.
