Founded in 1976 by David Schecter, Schecter Guitars Research is an American guitar maker that started by producing guitar parts. Crafted mainly in the United States and in Korea, Schecter guitars have been seen in the hands of musicians such as Pete Townshend, Prince, Mark Knopfler and Jeff Loomis. The quality of the Korean production is akin to that of many American or Japanese ones. Quite metal-oriented, Schecter guitars have earned a completely legitimate fame thanks to great build-quality, original designs and very typical tones.
The Schecter C1 Apocalypse is a metal beast with a hellish look, but sober enough you'll dare introduce her to your parents. The ash body reveals veins with a beautiful effect, and the set neck is awesomely comfortable. With 24 stainless steel frets, an ebony fingerboard, a pair of accurate and aggressive humbuckers, and a Floyd Rose tremolo, this guitar is highly qualified to blow any metal fan's ears off. While the Apocalypse humbucker on the bridge will tear the mix and bring riffs and solos to shine like crazy diamonds, the Sustainiac will generate progressive and captivating tones by letting the notes ring into infinity (and beyond, but the cable was too short when we tested it).
