With the MVP66 Twilight tube amp head, Morgan builds a phenomenal amp that delivers the purest, most authentic Marshall JTM45 tone. The Morgan MVP66 Twilight Head is a 50-watt adjustable head (more on that later), equipped with a pair of KT66s, the tubes that gave Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Angus Young their devastating crunches, to name a few. It is handcrafted from start to finish, and the manufacturer uses high quality components. The controls are super intuitive, with volume, three-band EQ, a gain pot, a footswitchable boost that you can adjust the level of on the rear panel, and one last, very special pot: Power.
With this knob, you can adjust the voltage transmitted to the tubes, and thus obtain variable outputs from the KT66, in order to enjoy their best performance even at low volume. The amp thus delivers from 1 watt all the way up to 50 watts, giving you a JTM45 that can both bring you its best crunch, warm and rich, without blowing out your singer's eardrums, and its brightest clean, strong enough to go with your drummer thanks to a large headroom.
The Power setting is very effective and offers a lot of possibilities because by playing with the tension to which the KT66s are subjected and the volume, you can get an amp that takes pedals very well, without adding compression, but still overpowering in terms of timbre, or a bomb with a delicious Marshall crunch, to which the boost can inject a further dose of texture. The Twilight finish gives it a smart casual look that's great on stage, in the studio, or even in the living room.
