The Custom Shop has worked hard and it shows: the woods are of exceptionally good quality, the hardware is machined to perfection, every nook and cranny has been carefully seen and reviewed, and the setup and craftsmanship are impeccable. The light, resonant body is alder, the super-comfortable Oval C profile neck is maple, the fingerboard, with an ultra-classic 7.5" radius, is rosewood of the highest grade, and the Fender hardware is simple, sturdy, and tuned-or-elderly. That's not the surprise, though we did feel that this bass is especially comfortable to hold, and the neck is a real treat.

Although the sound comes from a single HW62 P-Bass pickup, its electronics are damn good. The dynamic way in which the volume and tone knobs influence the performance will provide a versatile foundation for all styles of music, from jazz to metal, blues, rock, pop, and country.
